The Conference commences at 10 am on Sunday 13th June 2010 at the Central Hall Westminster and closes formally at 5.30 pm on Tuesday 15th June. A River Trip is being planned for the Sunday evening and a Close of Conference party for the Tuesday evening.
Delegates come from all over the world. One feature of the theatre industry, both front-of-house and backstage, is the welcome that will always be extended to a interested visitor, and this is a principle behind these Conferences. Delegate participation is encouraged but not mandatory. People with points they wish to make are free to question the speakers, and most of the sessions include time for discussion. There is plenty of time for networking.
Registration is now open with reduced rates for early registrants. Click here to register.
The Conference theme of "are performing arts buildings fit for purpose and just what does this involve?” is currently being explored. A preliminary list of some likely Conference subjects appears under topics. Further suggestions and the names of possible speakers should be sent to Richard Brett, the Conference Director.
Social events and other visits to venues in London are also planned for the Monday and Tuesday. Full information on the complete programme will be available on this web-site as soon as the plans are complete. A charity motor-cycle rally, the First Night Riders, will visit a large number of UK theatres and concert halls in the week preceding Conference. This will arrive back at the Central Hall Westminster on Saturday night, 12th June in time for the start of the conference.
On the Wednesday and Thursday, 16th and 17th June, the ABTT Theatre Show is a short walk away at the Horticultural Halls in Victoria. Visits to a number of performance venues, both in the UK and Europe, are also being planned for these days. Delegates may therefore wish to delay their departure until later in the week. |
